Who we are

First Word Today is a part of First Word Ministries, Inc. FWM is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and it exists to provide bible studies and bible teaching to those who will come to it and seek it. As a non-profit organization all contributions are tax deductible and contributions to First Word Ministries help us continue this.

Dr. Charles Owens, founder and director of FWM, began preaching in 1977. He started martial arts training and has attained "Master Rank" in three martial arts, and has been named as Grandmaster of Kong Soo Do (Korean Karate). He also was a Law Enforcement officer for 16 years, and served as a certified instructor of tactical baton and pepper spray. Through FWM, he utilizes his skills in martial arts and experiences learned from law enforcement, and his 40 years of in-depth Bible study and research, to help Christians deepen their walk in the Bible. He also enjoys teaching Christians martial arts and non-lethal methods of personal safety.
